The upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th in its series to be held. The FIFA World Cup is an international tournament and the next tournament is being held from June 11 through July 11 of 2010 in South Africa. |
More than 200 countries will vie in different confederations playing qualifying matches to become eligible for the World Cup but only 32 countries will ultimately make their way to South Africa in June 2010.
The 32 countries that will qualify for the FIFA World Cup tournament will be divided into groups and will play matches in two stages, namely group matches and knockout matches.
Here is the list of some of the countries that have already qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

South Korea
Korea DPR
Group 9
The Netherlands
Japan: Japan won against Uzbekistan with a 1-0 score. Japan will be appearing for the World Cup for the fourth time.
Australia: It is the third appearance for Australia in FIFA world cup. Last time it played, was defeated by Italy.
South Korea: South Korea won with a 2-0 against the United Arab Emirates. South Korea was also a semifinalist in the 2002 World Cup. South Korea will be appearing for the seventh time in World Cup.
The Netherlands: Netherlands qualified by beating Iceland 1-2. It has appeared more than 8 times in the World Cup.
Korea DPR: This will be a major return for the team after they drew Saudi Arabia to a goalless draw.
Of course, the host nation automatically qualifies for the FIFA World Cup and this means that South Africa has booked its place for the tournament. The same used to be true for the defending champion but it is no longer the case. This means that France, the current FIFA World Cup holder, will have to qualify for the tournament.
