Tampa Bay Bucs: Preseason Analysis

The Tampa Bay Bucs have one of the most impressive defenses in the game of the football. With defensive tackle Chris Hovan just being re-signed, things can only look good for this aspect of the team. Linebacker Derrick Brooks does well to lead the defense and will be expected to shine this season.

The offense for the Tampa Bay Bucs is not looking good this season. Quarterback Chris Simms is probably the weakest link. Although Chris Simms is the son of the great Hall of Famer Phil Simms, who was also a quarterback, he is not as good as his father. With the team picking up Jay Fiedler, there may be a good competition going for the starting quarterback position. Only time will tell how that battle goes.

The rest of the offense looks decent but a little inconsistent. David Boston should be great as a wide receiver, if he can stay healthy after a leg injury. In addition, Ike Hilliard is a great wide receiver with excellent speed and agility. Michael Pittman will be an asset at running back, if he can stay out of the courtroom this season.

However, the Bucs do have one thing on their side: Coach John Gruden. Everyone in the NFL knows Gruden has the reputation of being the most tenacious coach in the history of the NFL as a whole. He has more heart and talent than most coaches and has the ability to really connect with his players. He will not let his team quit.
