St. Louis RamsSt. Louis Rams: Preseason Analysis The St. Louis Rams started the season by hiring a new coach, Scott Linehan. Scott Linehan has been the offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins. This is Linehan’s first head coaching position, so the Rams could struggle with that fact alone. The team is led by Marc Bulger, quarterback, who has struggled for the past few seasons. Linehan did bring Gus Ferrotte in as a backup quarterback, because he has worked extensively with him at Minnesota and in Miami. Many people think that Linehan brought Ferrotte in to replace Bulger as the starting quarterback, which could be a good thing for the St. Louis Rams overall. Defensively the Rams have done a few free agent upgrades. The Rams brought in Corey Chavous from the Minnesota Vikings and La Roi Glover from the Dallas Cowboys. Both players are very smart football players that study their playbooks well. They should bring the defense to a new, and higher, level. Along with Leonard Little, the new players will be able really bring the defense together and stop their opponents. Marshall Faulk is the leading running back for the team still, but was hampered by injuries last season. The team will just be looking to see if Faulk is able to play at his fullest. Many critics think he will not be able to recover completely because of his age and the team has not yet picked anyone up to replace him. The St. Louis Rams have not addressed any of their receiver needs and are once again relying on Isaac Bruce, who is getting a little old for the NFL’s starting receiving expectation. |
