Minnesota VikingsMinnesota Vikings: Preseason Analysis The Minnesota Vikings have seen a lot of conflict over the past few seasons. Some of their star players have been involved in trials and they have not only lost great players to trades, they have also experienced the death of Corey Stringer and the termination of their beloved Coach Mike Tice last year. So, they are really going through some rebuilding years. The Vikings welcomed new coach Brad Childress this season and a new coaching staff. Their new owner Wilf really wanted to shake things up and find a way to make Minnesota the winning team he thinks they have the potential to be. He is even talking about building a billion dollar state-of-the-art stadium for the team. With everything changed from their coaches to their uniforms, it seems like the Vikings are starting fresh this season. But, there is something to be said about the players Coach Brad Childress is bringing in. Childress is recruiting veterans of the game, instead of going for the youngsters. This is likely a good move and with his strict coaching style, the veterans will likely be more apt to sync with it. The defense for the Minnesota Vikings looks good, with the addition of Ben Leber, linebacker. The offense is shaping up nicely as well. Troy Williamson, who was out with a knee injury for part of last season, should be healthy enough to return, which is certainly a good thing for the team. In addition, Pro-Bowler Koren Robinson is still strong at the wide receiver position and will be ready to go this season as well. The only concern for the team’s offense is the fact that their starting quarterback, Brad Johnson, is getting a little old. In the past he has proven to be a winner, even picking up a Super Bowl ring, but at 38 critics are curious if he still has what it takes to get through. With no reliable backup in sight at this time, the team might be in trouble. |
