2006 Preseason Analysis

Pittsburgh Steelers: What To Expect

Last year’s big Super Bowl winner was the Pittsburgh Steelers team. So, this year, they are looked at as being the one team to beat. If someone beats the previous Super Bowl winner, they feel as if they have accomplished something great. So, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have their work cut out for them, defending their title as the best team in the NFL.

The good news is that the team still looks strong and talented in almost every aspect of the game. Their head coach, Bill Cowher, is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in this history o the NFL. He is beginning his 14th season and will not likely disappoint his team or the fans. He has the respect of his players, coaches, and fans.

The bad news is that the Pittsburgh Steelers big star, Ben Roethlisberger was injured during the off season in a motorcycle accident. Roethlisberger is a key component to that Super Bowl winning team they had last year. So, unless he is in top shape, the team might suffer quite a bit. Experts are predicted that “Big Ben” will recover in time for the start of the season and be confident enough to play as he always does. Wide receiver Hines Ward is one player that sure hopes Ben will be ready to help him reach his all-time high in stats this year.

The defense looks great as well. Joey Porter, Troy Polamalu and rookie Lee Vickers will help hold up the defensive end of things and are expected to do their job quite well.
