2006 Preseason Analysis New England: Preseason ThoughtsThe New England Patriots have won more Super Bowls in the last ten years than any other NFL team. In fact, when some teams are still trying to figure out how to even make the playoffs, the New England Patriots are still making everything look as simple as can be. Of course the team has great and talented players working toward the wins, but they also have an excellent coach in Bill Belichick. Bill Belichick is coming into his sixth season with the New England Patriots and knows the formula for success. He has been able to implement the formula and create a great and strong team year after year. The glory will lie in the offense of the New England Patriots this season. With quarterback Tom Brady leading the offense, the team has a great chance of a Super Bowl showing. He is consistent and ready to go year after year. He has the respect of his fellow teammates and really knows how to perform when it counts. In addition, Tom Brady has great key players to work with toward those wins. Deion Branch and Troy Brown are great wide receivers that make Tom Brady’s job even easier. With them down the field, Brady can feel confident about his passing game. The New England running backs are also to be admired this year. Corey Dillion and rookie Laurence Maroney will be implementing the running plays this season and will likely do great. The defense of the New England Patriots is not looking that great this season however. Their most dedicated player, Willie McGinest, will no longer be with the team, which is likely to show in a big way. The Patriots defense won’t be horrible, but it won’t likely be as great as it has been in the past. |
