The Cincinnati Bengals have a history of drafting players who have criminal backgrounds or who have committed crimes while on the team. Even though this has happened to three of their newest players, coaches and owners are confident that they will not draft any more players with questionable pasts. The team insists that players abide by team rules of conduct when on and off the field.

But when the Bengals drafted Ahmad Brooks recently, the team’s previous statements are now being questioned. Brooks was let go from the football team he was playing for while attending college in Virginia. Although the reason as to why remain a secret, many say he bullied players and do not take direction from coaches. This could be yet another player that will commit a crime and embarrass the Bengals.

The team’s owners are standing by this decision and all the others they have made. When players perform well, many times teams will overlook past negative activity and grades. They are looking for players who will sign long-term contracts so that the spots are filled when the season rolls around again. This could en up back firing for the team, however. With charges constantly being filed against players, there may not be enough of them to play when the season starts. The team wanted to reassure fans that they are doing everything they can to ensure that players do not get into anymore trouble. Only time will tell as the new season is just around the corner. Fans will be waiting to see what will happen next.
