Carson Palmer Recoveryby Chris Bibey Carson Palmer was having a great season in 2005. That was until he injured his knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the play-offs. In an instant he had gone from leading the Bengals offense, to sitting on the sideline wondering when and if he was going to be able to make his way back onto the field. The Bengals exited the play-offs that day, and Palmer was set to undergo reconstructive surgery on his left knee shortly thereafter. During the first practice of training camp, Palmer ran the first team offense without any signs of distress. Of course this was only a practice and nobody was coming after him hard, but it was a great sign for Bengals fans everywhere. Not even Palmer knows how well his knee will hold up this season. It is a matter of getting it back into playing shape, and hoping that he does not get hit wrong again this season. The next couple of weeks will give Palmer, the coaching staff, and the fans a better idea of how he is going to be able to perform in the upcoming 2006 season. The good thing for Palmer is that he has until September 10 to get his body back into playing shape. During this time he will be able to test his skills in a couple of scrimmages as well. If you watched the play-off game last year after Palmer went out with his injury, you surely know how important he is to the entire team. It is safe to say that without Palmer leading the offense, the Bengals may be in for a long season. But at the same time, will we all see the same Carson Palmer that tore through the league last year? Only time will tell. |
