Ray Lewis wants another Super Bowlby Chris Bibey Last season, Ray Lewis spent the majority of his time on the sideline nursing an injured hamstring. He did not participate in the last 10 games of the season due to this injury as well as the surgery that was required to repair it. But this has only made Lewis hungrier than ever before. After watching the Ravens finish the season with a 6-10 record, Lewis spent a lot of time getting back into perfect playing shape. In addition, he has also been pushing his teammates to be as good as they can be. The bottom line is that Lewis is not coming back to simply win a few games; for him nothing less then another Super Bowl title is acceptable. Lewis is going to be leading the team from his middle linebacker position again in 2006. Even though a lot of people may see it as a bad thing that he missed all of last year, it actually gave his entire body a chance to recover. Lewis is 31 years old, and the year off should be able to help keep him fresh for a longer period of time this season. After Lewis led his team to the Super Bowl in 2001, he set his sites on winning a couple more of these titles. But unfortunately injuries and some bad front office decisions have been holding him down for the past four years. Most people will agree that Lewis is not the same player that he was in 2001. He no longer has the same speed that he did, but with that being said he is still one of the better linebackers in the league. With the Ravens offense up in the air, it is going to be up to Lewis to hold the opposition to low point outputs; just like in 2001. This will give his team the best chance to win, and quite possibly get another title. |
