Harold Warren Moon was born November 18, 1956. He was an American football quarterback who played in the Canadian Football League and the National Football League. In Canada, Moon played for the Edmonton Eskimos. |
He played for various teams in the NFL including the Houston Oilers, the Minnesota Vikings, the Seattle Seahawks and also the Kansas City Chiefs.
Today, he is a broadcaster for the Seattle Seahawks and a business partner at Leigh Steinberg Sports and Entertainment in California along with his long time friend.
He is the only player who was entered both into the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame of America and Canada. Moon was one of the first African-American quarterbacks who happened to be elected in Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Throughout his college career, Warren Moon was chased by several colleges. Some even went through the trouble of ensuring that they held a position for him in the college. However, this was not something unusual as many colleges took these steps when it came to recruiting African American high school quarterbacks. Ultimately, Moon went to the West Los Angeles College in 1974-75 and there he set many records as a quarterback. After Moon displayed his capabilities at West LA, there was a mixed interest about his capabilities. While some experts felt that he was mediocre, others felt threatened by him. However, Moon was confident about his abilities as he believed that he was better than any average player and was an above average athlete. He adamantly continued playing as a quarterback against all odds and the end results are there for all to see.
Moon won several games for the Huskies and led them to mind blowing victories with scores like 27-20, which was against the University of Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl of 1978. This game also won him the title of the Most Valuable Player of the game.
