Pittsburgh Pirates

With the second half of the season already underway, there are a lot of teams that are at the bottom of their division and looking to move up. One such team is the Pittsburgh Pirates. Not only are they at the bottom of their division, but they are also at the bottom of the entire league. This does not bode well for a team that was coming into the season hoping to make a run at the play offs.

Through the first half of the season the Pirates had the worst record in baseball. This was attributed in part to the fact that their pitching has been off, but even the coaches have to take some blame for this one. Some of the personnel changes that the coaching staff has made over the first half of the season boggled the minds of fans everywhere.

If the Pirates are going to get out of the cellar, the only way to do this is by better pitching and a continued good performance at the plate. In addition to the bats of Freddy Sanchez and Jason Bay, the rest of the line up is also going to have to pick up the slack.

Overall, the Pirates organization is in dire straits. They have not made the play offs in more than a decade and it would take more than a miracle for it to happen this season. The best thing for them to do at this point is continue working hard and hope that next years things start off differently.
