Florida Marlins

The Florida Marlins compete in the National League East division and are having a tough go of it so far in 2006. Even though the Marlins have a lot of good, young talent, they have struggled quite a bit up to this point in the season. They are currently sitting in next to last place and are trailing the division leading New York Mets by 13 and a half games. It is safe to say that they would need to go on a long winning streak to close that gap, but they do have the players who can make this happen.

At the plate, Miguel Cabrera and Dan Uggla have showed consistency throughout the first part of the season, but these two guys are just about it. The Marlins are currently near the bottom of the league of runs scored, and this does not bode well since the pitching staff got off to a slow start. The young staff is now starting to come into their own, but it may be too little too late.

The Marlins may try to make some moves before the trade deadline so that they can get some bigger bats into the lineup. Even though this may give them an additional push down the stretch, it will still be very difficult for them to make the kind of run that they need in order to catch the Mets. The good thing for the Marlins is that they should be in good position going into the off season.
