Colorado Rockies

If you take a look at the National League West division standings you will notice something that is a bit strange. Even though the Colorado Rockies are sitting in dead last place they still have a chance to win the division. That is right; the Rockies are in last place but are only five games out of first. Wouldn’t it be nice for some teams like the Yankees to be in a division like this?

If the Rockies want to make a run at that first place slot they are going to need to sure up their offense at home. In the past the Rockies have been unstoppable at Coors Field, but this year has been different. But even though they are not batting quite as well at home, they have picked up the slack when heading out on the road.

As far as pitching is concerned, the Rockies are doing a very nice job in 2006. They are currently the National League leader in staff ERA; something that should help them immensely as the end of the season begins to close in. If the pitching staff can stay on pace, and the bats continue to hit they Rockies have a chance of making up those five games.

If you are a Colorado Rockies fan you should be excited about the last couple months of the season. Even though they are still five games out of first place, the Rockies have put themselves in position to make a run at the division leading San Diego Padres.
