Chicago White SoxThe Chicago White Sox are having a great season and deserve to make the play offs if things continue to move in this direction. After all, they are the defending world champions and deserve to defend their title. But with all of that being said, they are not even leading their own division. In the American League Central division the White Sox are trailing the Detroit Tigers by 4.5 games. This means that not only are they in jeopardy of losing the division, but with so many other good teams in the AL East, if they do not continue to win they may miss out on a wild card berth as well. With Jim Thome at the plate the White Sox have a big left handed bat just where they need it, in the middle of the order. To go along with this, the White Sox have one of the best starting pitching rotations in the entire league. Every starter has at least eight wins, and closer Bobby Jenks is among the league leaders in saves. But the main problem with the pitching staff has been the bull pen, in particular the set up guys. If they do not sure themselves up during the second half of the season the White Sox may be in for some trouble. Overall, the White Sox may be the defending champions but if they do not start winning more consistently they may miss out on the play offs altogether this season. It will be interesting to see how the White Sox respond to adversity down the stretch. |
